Thanks to continuous innovation, Total offers several motor oils with extended replacement intervals, significantly increasing the distance between oil changes—up to more than 100,000 km for commercial vehicles.
Since oil changes become less frequent with Total motor oil, this also means reduced waste oil production. Total motor oils meet the requirements of modern, low-emission diesel engines for commercial vehicles (Euro 4 and Euro 3). Another advantage: fewer visits to the service center result in significantly lower vehicle maintenance costs, thanks to these products.
Major car manufacturers aim to develop engines that consume less fuel. Lower fuel consumption results in less CO2 production, helping reduce the greenhouse effect. Total’s product range includes fuel-saving oils that deliver 3–8% fuel savings compared to traditional oils. These products are suitable for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Since 2003, Total has operated a wind farm of five turbines near Dunkirk in Northern France. Present in over 130 countries with nearly 100,000 employees, Total’s operations cover a broad spectrum. The company developed its own Safety, Environmental, and Quality Policy based on the parent company’s Safety, Environment, and Quality Charter. Its quality management system was first implemented in its Gas Division, certified in 2001 according to the ISO 9001:1994 standard. It was recertified in 2003 under the new 2000 edition of the standard. By 2004, Total expanded its certification to include its Specialties Division, covering solvents, lubricants, and bitumen distribution.
Total oils are primarily produced in three regions: Africa, the North Sea, and the Middle East. The company also has a strong presence in Southeast Asia, North and South America. In the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector, Total has secured a strong position, expanding its activities in Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. These include gas distribution, power generation in gas-powered combined-cycle plants, and renewable energy. This diversification makes the Total Group one of the most prominent players in the gas market alongside its production of Total motor oils.
